Hi,
I have not posted here in years, but thought I would tell my story again (with an update).
I am 36 years old and have been struggling with eye strain from screens for many, many years. What makes my situation worse is that I have a condition called Uveitis, in which screens exacerbate my syptoms.
That aside, I have tried many different phones and laptops but am yet to find the right one. I was using one of the older Macbook airs for work for 2 years with an external screen, which was fine for me. Without the screen however, it caused my head to feel tight and dizzy.
I always thought it was just the LED screens that caused me harm, until last year when I upgraded my home PC to Windows 7 (with my usual non LED external screen). I didnt realise it but after using it for a few hours, I felt terrible, brain fog, tiredness, and dizzy, with a headache. I woke the next morning with a serious migraine. I couldnt think properly and was feeling really anxious. To this day (6 months) I still have symptoms of that migraine. Tingling scalp, foggy mind etc. The strange thing is I feel I now have an even lower tolerance to LED lights and dithering (from operating systems). I just have to deal with it as my job is all online.
I bought myself a E-ink Dasung Paperlike HD out of desperation, which, so far, seems ok. I can clearly see the dithering flicker on the Dasung screen with windows and Mac OS Big Sur which I am using now. I have to set the Dasung to the 2nd slowest refresh setting named the "black+ setting".
We need to find a solution to both LED light and temporal dithering, as I ignored this stuff and trucked on through the symptoms and I feel my brain is being damaged.
