Lipiflow is the closest thing to a temporary cure I have come across for my dry eye symptoms (lasts about 1 year for me). However, it's very overpriced, and it doesn't last as long as claimed. Plus, there's no guarantee it will work. Having said all that, I would get it done again if my symptoms became overbearing. My glands have plugged up again since my last treatment, but I'm trying to extend out the time to my next treatment as long as possible due to the cost. Restasis helps with symptom control in the meantime.
When my dry eye symptoms were really bad, all of my visual sensitivities were worse. However, treating the dry eye didn't solve my problems except to reverse the dry eye induced extra layer of sensitivity (which is still worth doing).
Punctal plugs should be an option, but the sad truth is many optometrist are not good at fitting and inserting them, despite offering them. Stay away from "intracanalicular" type plugs.

It was a silly thing for me to say. Of course anyone would like to solve the root of their problem. They don't need me to tell them.
