If they are truly 10-bit they should technically not dither. But that article only says that those phones are 10-bit not truly 10-bit. It only says a few lines below that, that the Oppo Find X3 Pro is truly 10-bit.

The Mi 11 ultra for example is not truly 10-bit and possibly dithers.

In theory, yes, but it's hard to know unless we try 🙂. I see no technical basis to employ dithering on a 10 bit panel (unless you want to show 12 bits of color...which I don't think these phones claims to do).

ryans On store the Xiaomi 11T Pro was extremely comfortable. Of course only buying and using for a few days can one be sure that they are strain free. I was tempted to buy, but my old Sony XZ2 is still good, and i decided not to buy it.

Question. If you have a 10 bit panel as opposed to 8 bit attempting to show more colors, is this a remedy for static dithering or temporal?

Check this list out almost all the phones on that list you posted have an (8-bit+FRC) panel which means they dither!!

All I know is the only two recent AMOLED phones I've been able to use comfortably are in this list.. the Mi11 and Oneplus 8 Pro.

All of a sudden the Mi11 stopped working for me, so I can only imagine that was a software update which introduce dithering of some sort.
