  • .NET Framework 4.8 working on Windows 10 build 1507/1511/2015 LTSB

Some members of LEDStrain, including myself, use old builds of Windows 10 since eyestrain troubles began with build 1607 and later.

.NET Framework 4.8 has only been available on Windows 10 build 1607 and later, and builds 1507/1511 were limited to 4.6.2. Many applications require .NET Framework 4.8.

It is possible to install 4.8 on 1507/1511 thanks to the clever work of abbodi1406 on MDL. Here is a link to his .NET 4.8 Installer/Updater for Windows 10 Version 1507/1511. I have tested it and it is working on one of my 2015 LTSB (1507) installs.

Wow. This could be great - I've started to see an increasing number of applications fail to install/run on my old 1511 install. I'll definitely try this out and report back.

Download "dotNetFx48-15071511refresh.zip" from the link I posted (you will have to register at the MDL forum). Inside the zip file is "DNF48_ReadMe.txt". The instructions are there. If there is a specific instruction which you are stuck on, feel free to send me a private message.

      I hope this helps.

PS: Are you using 1507/1511 for eyestrain purposes? Would like to hear your experience!
