It was an attempt to save money on the skyrocketing cost of electricity.
So my city has been removing the traditional sodium lights and replacing them with these brilliant white LED lamps that no, nobody here would enjoy. I feel they're first generation garbage and no consideration was given to their selection. I'm pissed about it because they're moving so fast on these installations, and there is a streetlight in front of my house so of course I am getting light pollution from this as well.
There is discussion taking place globally on this subject, but it didn't take place here, and these things have 15-20 year lifespans.
