I did a DNA test in order to have some fun doing family tree stuff which I did enjoy. Then I decided to download that DNA sequence and ran it through medical analysis over at Promethease to see what came back.
It was interesting. I was surprised to discover I didn't have known genes for something I do have, so that one will remain a mystery, perhaps forever.
What surprised me was to discover that I have an unknown-to-me MTFHR mutation on both C677T and A1298C. Compound heterozygous. What this means is that my body has impaired processing of folic acid/folate of 50% maybe 65%.
I only just discovered that this is a thing and it doesn't mean it has anything to do with ledstrain, but I can't imagine that having impairment of a key biochemical pathway of 50-65% is nothing and I've been completely oblivious to it.
It is an interesting one contemplate, some of my long-standing complaints, I have no idea whatsoever if it's related to this or separate and won't know till later.
I will try riboflavin (vitamin B2) and see how I feel. This might be interesting to try, because every time I've gone to the local deli for a while, I always order liver. Liver contains riboflavin.
