what i can confirm is that my eyes don't hurt anymore... the most important is to set up accuratly the contrast with the light of the room. ...

i'm sorry for fake ....... i might have to resell TV ( i need to think about it.) .... i'm not sure..... because i don't know what to buy as TV ? 🙁

ckf92 When I tried the TV (I don't have it anymore) for some time I found brightness 100 and contrast 0 (I have a brightness issue) to be one of the most pleasing ways of looking at it. But it still hurt my eyes after a while. The rtings.com graphics is not very accurate, but it looks like the flicker percentage might be the lowest on brightness 100. (Flicker percentage is the relation between highest and lowest amplitude.) Maybe that is what makes things a little more comfortable.

It's a little hard to confirm "no flicker" but if there is any, you can see moving lines through the camera. In this case, they are not black but still quite bright, because the brightness does not drop to zero. The lines are just a little less bright than the rest of the screen.

do you know if there is a tv i can buy ? i'm asking myself if i should go to the "eyes doctor" to check if my eyes get problem?... i have no issues with lcd CCFL 32" or with projector TRI-lcd

it seems like my eyes need times to adapt the high luminosity of screen ... but when it's donne i can watch tv with very less strain.... (but my eyes are strains for sure... )

i have no issue with LCD CCFL for sure.

and i own as a PC a HP elitebook 820 G2 with IPS panel LED BACKLIT and can use it without issue. (maybe a very little tired eyes issue but not noticeable)

my girlfriend has a PC HP elitebook 820 G1 with bad VA panel with led BACKLIT with PWM (tried with a fan to see pwm and it's verified) and uses it also for month with no strain. so i don't understand why i can't use OLED.

before trying OLED EG910V i get a LG 58UH635V which was extremly terrible for my eyes and my brain. (PWM for sure)

i don't know what is my problem...

so i'm lost about buying new TV.

I tried a LG OLED55B6P in store today and it appeared PWM free when viewed with LG V20 camera with high shutter speed. Rtings also says PWM free.

I could have programmed my phone to act as a remote to control the TV's menu options but didn't have enough time.

Progress if true.

the perfect for me is tri lcd video projector.. or very old CCFL screen.

Actually, i'm psychologic afraid by LED 🙁 it doesn't help me 🙁

Ok, the reason I mention plasma is that in all of my reading they seem to be the one type of TV that causes the least amount of issues for those of us sensitive to LEDs.

I dread the day my 54" Panasonic Plasma screen goes to silicon-heaven.

My theory for our sensitivity given my experiences with low flicker, non pwm, low blue screens causing me trouble vs other LEDs such as my MacBook pro being OK is that there's something about the way or sequence that the backlight LEDs fire or illuminate the screen.

Not that this could explain how recent Nvidia cards are doing my head in...

Not always, I have a plasma screen that causes me no issues, I bought a later plasma screen that caused MASSIVE issues, bought an LED screen that caused issues, then found another LED screen that when set to "Game" mode finally caused me no issues.

Just want to give you hope that there can be LED TV's that don't trigger sensitive folks. But it is a real struggle to find them. My plan is just to repair these if they break.

Was looking at Rtings reviews for 2017 TVs and Sony's X850E is the highest end LED-backlit LCD I could find with no PWM. It doesn't use local dimming which is a downside for blacks but I think local dimming is potentially a source of local PWM if not done right and the VA panel on it should be good for blacks compared to equivalent IPS panels. Going to look at it in the store tomorrow.

Last year Sony's X850D was the highest end LED-backlit LCD with no PWM. I looked at it in the store and it had awful blacks compared to the higher end models with local dimming (which also happened to use PWM, donno if related to the inclusion of this feature). It was an IPS panel which didn't help (although at the time I thought it was VA, as I just found an old post above where I went to see the 2016 models in store). I couldn't justify buying it compared to how crap it looked compared to my old plasma.

This year equivalent of X850E seems to have better blacks but less viewing angle (video I saw showed big drop off at around 45° which is not a problem for me) or so I gleam from the Rtings review of the X850E but I will confirm in the store.

cool. Please keep us up to date with your tests. Does anybody know if there are also other tvs without pwm? I don't really care about blacks. I just want a TV which is ok for my eyes.

I purchased the Sony X850E. My impresssion in store is that PQ is much better than last years model and blacks were much improved as well. There was some judder when I turned all the motion processing off which was a bit annoying and not somthing that is present on my plasma. Impossible to say how it is for eyestrain with the overhead lighting in Best Buy bothing my eyes as soon as I step in the store. I can't wait to turn it off Demo (aka Torch/Vivid) mode, fiddle with the motion bs to see what I can tolerate and what effect it has on the backlight (it looks like there are multiple motion settings, not just motion smoothing low/mid/high), and try a movie at low brightness with no more worrying about PWM. I've had good luck with VA panels where even PWM-free IPS panels have given me trouble (I think there is something to it but I don't have enough technical knowledge to piece it together) so I feel good about this TV, although I am used to disappointments.

At least I have good return policy with 30 days to test.

Reason I'm getting this TV is I can't put my plasma on the main floor because it is a very bright room and the reflections are so bad the TV is basically unwatchable. I have the plasma in my home theatre in the basement but my family still congregates around the PWM ridden LED TV (which handles reflections much better) for casual viewing or ambience on the main floor because it is close to the kitchen.

Also for anyone still interested in getting a used plasma I found a good active place is AVS forum classifieds where enthusiasts are posting their good plasma models as they move to OLED. Perfect time to get a good used plasma as finally in the enthusiast eyes a true challenger to plasma in PQ has arrived in OLED. http://www.avsforum.com/forum/253-plasma-panels/

Note that I am extremely biased and push plasma whenever I can (best LCD doesnt come close in eye comfort for me) but some here have had bad experience with them (also if I hook a bad device like Apple TV up to it it is still game over). Many people are willing to let you come in their home and demo the TV with whatever device and material you wish for as long as you want within reason which is huge.

I get the same thing, which led me to believe it was not the screen itself that was the cause of the issue, but the actual thing driving the screen

I have found Plasmas, LCD, and LED screens that both do and do not cause me issues, AND the ones that do not cause me issues can start causing me issues when driven by a certain device.

Got the TV. Was surprised to see that Rtings turns off 'Motionflow' and 'Cinemotion' in their calibration settings considering they mention judder in their review. I'll follow in hopes of minimizing confounding variables.
