I'm so happy to have found this forum - knew I couldn't be the only one!
Hoping for your advice: I need to buy a fairly high-spec laptop but finding it all utterly confusing. I know I have problems with strobing (diagnosed by EEG) and suspect other factors are also an issue, but don't know what they are. I have never found a setup that didn't cause problems, including PWM-free, but have never had a machine with a separate graphics card before.
I'm getting the impression that each individual computer will have different effects on different people, but is there any general rule of thumb for what has a better chance of being usable? E.g. do any particular GPUs tend to be better or worse than others? And do any brands or models have screens that more people can tolerate?
I can't physically go to a store to look before I buy, so will have to order online.
Usage will be Windows for general home office type tasks, plus Linux for more intensive scientific analysis (whole genome sequence data). I'm looking at Intel i9 H/Ryzen 9 H or Xeon, with min 8 cores and 32 GB RAM, ideally more if I can afford it. I will not be gaming or doing high-level graphic design, so my only concern for the graphics is how it affects my health.
I'm in the UK if that makes a difference.
Can anyone advise?
