There are plenty of us who don't have an issue with PWM if it's done properly. I use an older Samsung phone with no issue.

That said, there are plenty of Samsung phones that do cause a problem, so one should never assume any brand name's offering is good. Everything needs to be evaluated individually on a case-by-case basis.

For me, it seems to be due to temporal dithering + IR sensor blinking.

I'm skeptical that the human eye can see IR, but.. if you haven't already done so, you can turn off face id.

OLED Tvs and Apple products have been my reason for searching out these communities. As I've said plenty of times, once my products aren't supported or reparable any more, I am pretty much forced out of the Apple ecosystem. It's sad. I thought apple was supposed to start making their own panels over the last few years.

markdotpeters5 But Apple use Samsung displays, so while the PWM numbers are reported as higher on the newer iPhones VS the equivalent Samsung phones, the eye strain is still just as bad.

Tobiyas the FL-41 tinted lenses look interesting but they are colour tinted which would be problematic for a graphic designer, which is my day job.

JRUK It's not. At all. the flicker rate and modulation depth is different. The impact of this will vary from person to person depending what you're sensitive to, they may be provided by Samsung, but they're either different panels or configured differently (or both).

imthescott Did you end up doing this? I am thinking about the same thing as well.
