iphone 14 pro uses an LTPO screen and I have no problems with my apple watch LTPO screen. Could there be some luck this time..

    Bad news guys.

First impressions are not good, I have "brain fog" / disorientation.

Consider that I use without problems: iphone X (ios 14), pixel 4a and samsung A52.

I will try to adapt in the next week, otherwise I will return it and come back with my iphone X which still works very well.

EDIT: I am trying the iphone 14 PRO!

NewDwarf Honestly, I was hopeful. I have never had any problems with OLED devices.

Let's wait for the notebookcheck review to see what frequencies this PWM uses.

Lauda89 You have problems with Iphone 14 Pro, when there is no problems with Iphone X? This is strange because X is guaranteed to have a lower PWM

drima55 I can only speak for myself, but I seem to have more of an issue with the variance in the PWM rate rather than the actual rate itself..

So if the rate is lower it could still be better for me as long as it's stable. The 13 and 14 range are all over the place.

          drima55

They are two totally different panels though! The iphone X has a fixed PWM at 240hz and a less bright screen with a fixed frequency at 60 hz. This one has 2000nits of maximum brightness, a refresh rate ranging from 1 to 120 hz, and a PWM that looks dynamic.

Then consider that there is also different software, ios 14 vs. 16!

markdotpeters5 I will return with the iPhone X for another year, then I will try again with the iPhone 15 next year 🙂

            Lauda89

Had an iphone 12, had to return it because it was impossible to use. big headaches and eye strain no matter how much i tweaked the settings.

heard the 13pro improved this a bit and maybe the 14 could work?

im using an 11 now with no issues.

blokes444 Great to see that Apple is somewhat moving the PWM frequency up compared to other manifacturers which are stuck at 480-240 (still way too low, easily spottable)

With how it's progressing, maybe the iPhone 17 might have an OLED that has decent PWM handling 😃

(hopefully other manifacturers won't follow this trend… lol)

Lauda89 Im So glad you have mentioned the brain fog! This is one of the main symptoms for me. I have not heard anyone else speak about it. But If I try and keep the phone it gets worse over time.

drima55 Well I assumed the same. But all the phones since the X have given me migraines, vertigo, brain fog etc.. ive tried X, Xs, 11, 12 pro, 12 pro max.. and returned them all (several times, from several attempts) but the 13 pro max was fine, it didnt give me a headache once in a space of a month using it every day as main device. (I did return due to brain fog) and that has a low refresh similar to the XS max which was awful for me.

So last week I tried the 13 pro and within a few minutes, I felt a dizzy, went home and had a headache. so frustrating. Ive felt rubbish since. The pro max's effect me less but the small ones with a higher refresh give me the worst headaches. So I think it just varies for everyone. Currently using an iPhone 8 plus lol.. I was hoping the 14 pro max with the LTPO screen would be better but n thinking other wise. 🙁

Have you people tried the "Reduce white point" option? (Simply search in settings for white point)

I got a 13 pro max instead of the 14, so maybe this option is working differently, but for me it helped greatly.

By default it sets to 80%, I was raising it to 90% and cranked brightness itself simply higher and now I'm all good.

This is maybe not related to PWM, but who knows, maybe it helps for that as well. I just hope this can help someone out there too!

blokes444 is that true about 1040 PWM on IPhone 14? I cant understand how these values were obtained
