randomboolean Depends if the speed or "smoothness" of the motion is the issue. LCD's are a sample and hold technology so excluding things like dithering it SHOULD be static image when things aren't moving.

Unfortunately things like dithering break that assumption.

JTL An 8-bit panel and no forced dithering at the driver layer should eliminate dithering right?

    • JTL replied to this.

ryans It should. It's harder to do then it sounds.

I have a BenQ GW2760HS on my desk and 4 GPU's I can readily test with under Windows/Linux

      • Intel HD Graphics 4600
      • ASUS AMD R9 270X
      • EVGA Nvidia GTX 560
      • EVGA GTX 1070

With the 1070 even the BIOS setup screen looks flickery. I tried RMA'ing the card despite my persistence it wouldn't solve things. I got a refurbished model with the same VBIOS and everything. Go figure.

ryans Yes, but this doesn't explain why I had a photosensitive epilepsy type reaction to some screens, among other issues.

What I'm trying to say is that it would be nice if the issue we were all having was that simple, but it's not.

JTL Did you ever get all medical checkups done, mri etc? On the intel forum someone recently found out that they did have finds on MRI

martin I have found one person in Prague who had similar issue, but said that in 14 days it subsided and now hes fine. Hes gotten used to it. I never heard about that before.

          martin Yes.

I even have had an MRI from before I had these issues (January 2011)

          Other MRI's taken in
          - December 2014
          - Sometime in 2016? (My memory is slightly foggy because I was still getting headaches all the time)

Doctor said "everything looked normal" and even compared the older and newer MRI's

JTL why did you get the mei before you had these issues? Was there some injury?

            • JTL replied to this.

Ive read migraines and head injuries are a common connection. Could you again share more details about the cannabis treatment? Exact name, dosage, progress...? Im gonna try to get it here in Prague or metnion it. Ive been to head cavity specialist, they found a polyp but said its normal size and non cancerous, normal thing many people have. Said there is no chance to be connected with the migraines. Gave me nose spray to try just to see if it helps. Eventually Ill have to try alternative methods, cannabis etc.

JTL Mammox from Sandoz, with kortikosteroids to decerase the polyp or desensitize the possible irritation. So far it doesnt seem to work much. Ive also noticed similar migrainous pain for half hour after, when the specialist was putting a metal probe with LED at the end into my nose. Not sure what to make of that.

I spoke to a gentlemen who went to an orthoptist (referred via opthamologist after getting eyestrain from new Intel graphics). He was given eye exercises to do and never got the eyestrain again. The orthoptist told him the problem was lack of exercise of his eyes (lots of time in front of the computer). His final conclusion was there was definitely something different about the Intel graphics, but, the exercises cured him and he never got eyestrain again.

He determined Intel HD 4000 Graphics (or a driver) was a culprit by connecting the Intel graphics laptop to a known good monitor that didn't cause eyestrain on other laptops, and still got eyestrain. This person was on Arch Linux btw.

This definitely isn't a cure for everyone here but it might help some to visit an orthoptist..I've not heard of them before I spoke to this gentlemen.

ryans Could you please specify the exercises, talk to him again, get maybe even a plan he was following? Im willing to try anything. I tried seesicksyndrome exercises, but so far no improvement. Maybe its different exercises for this pain were having.
If Ive noticed something we all have in common here, its that we are completely computer people - playing games since childhood, working in IT or with computers all the time, then relaxing with them as well. Everyone mentions gaming here. I dont play games anymore but I used to be glued to the screen 24/7. So this would make sense.

                    ryans

                    Hey,
Your story brings you exact to my described TMD problems. Long story short (i described it more precisely many posts above) according to the fact that my jaw isn't in the right position eye adjustment isn't working properly because of strainend muscles behind the eyes. After my jaw problems are healed I have also to do some eye excercises in order to learn focusing in the right way.
