  • Is it possible to install windows 7 on recent laptops ?

I have a lenovo laptop from late 2018 and I fail to install windows 7 using rufus and a bootable usb. It freezes after the first reboot.

Also, I can't install any version of windows 10 prior to 1709. Same thing, spinning dots keep spinning for ever after the first part of the installation (first reboot).

For some reason, I did succeed once installing windows 1703, but it never worked again after many other attempts.

Does anyone know if there is a way to bypass this ? I tried to roll back to previous bios versions but with no success.

I think you have somehow to introduce the drive drivers into your windows 7 iso to make it run after installing. Try to goolgle " installing win 7 on new machines "

It depends on driver availability. You will need to identify the hardware components and see if Windows 7 drivers are available or modified drivers have been created for Win 7

Allekss I think you have somehow to introduce the drive drivers into your windows 7 iso to make it run after installing.

This is optional, you should be able to install Win7 and then add drivers later. If the Win 7 installer does not see the boot disk, you will need those drivers either slipstreamed or available via USB (USB 3 drivers are missing from Win 7 install)
