Allekss I've been suffering from (eye pain/dry eye syndrome/computer eye syndrome or whatever is called) from 2015 ! What i notice the most is that i feel the pain in my eyes after using the PC/LAPTOP!!! I mean , i can feel a bit of pain when i start then after minutes of using, it is like the pain goes away then it comes back after I stop using them. My question is WHY? How to explain that? Maybe it is related to muscles? 🤔
RobC Allekss . The situation you describes is the same as when you stay at the beach for some time and then you feel a pain at the skin after been exposed to the sun. In my case, I don´t only feel an eye strain with new displays but also a pain at skin. For me it is very clear that my problem is a photosensitivity at both skin and eyes, but only with new displays. With old displays I could be in front of them for 24hs without any feeling of pain.
Allekss mazury it depends which phones. I can NOT tolerate AMOLED, OLED screens ( they are flickering). LCD phones are ok if they are flicker free : can get some symptoms sometime if using 8 more hrs per day continuosly!!!
eDenon-2 Except temporal dithering, the operating system's display technology will also cause eyestrain. Try Ubuntu, I'm using it, and didn't have eyestrain symptoms.
Allekss eDenon-2 I just bought Viewsonic VG 2240 which is flicker free, has low blue light mode and the most important: it is 8 true bit panel!!! It is connected to RX 6500XT which outputs also 8 bits. According to my knowledges, there should not be amy dithering in my case. Also using Benicci blue light glasses . After a few days i feel better but still, in testing phase…
Allekss Update: After 4-5 days of VG2240 i started to feel more & more eye strain. Unfortunately i had to return the monitor and bought a smaller 14" ARZOPA A1 portable monitor on Amazon and my eyes feel better 🤔. IMPORTANT: I try to take a 20 mins break after 40 minutes of usage ☝️
Allekss RobC Actually I was in Cuba for a week in mid January, and i had some small acnes on my skin from the SUN. It is related to my light sensitivity and digital eye strain ? 🤔
RobC Allekss Maybe there is something in common. Is the amount of your eye strain related to the distance to the display? Do you also feel something in your skin when you are very close to the display?
Allekss RobC I noticed that is the screen is smaller, my eyes feel better. Also less brightness = more comfortable :// Also i was diagnosed with eczema 1 year ago. Idk what's going on … The only pain i get is eye pain from screens.
RobC Allekss Did you try with an old CCFL monitor? I think our problem is realted with new backlights that emmit a kind of light and intensity that is harmful to us.
Allekss RobC I would like to try an CCFL monitor but is hard to find one in 15 - 20" range. Also i resome researches where scientists say LED lights ( from Monitors, Cars, bulbs etc ) cause eye pain and that's my case ://
RobC You have several CCFL used monitors within this size. I had Hd CCFL monitors. For some reason the FHD CCFL monitors I bought also gave me eye and skin pain. I think it is due to their maximum intensity.
