What to look for in a Monitor for eyestrain?

I am currently looking to change my old monitor. I am looking for a 24 inch monitor but they all seem to say "eye care" in the title and "flicker free". BenQ seems to put a lot of emphasis on eye care features but it could also be marketing hype. So what are the most important things to look for in a monitor, and how can I know if it is truly "flicker free"?

Are there "must" features to look for? Refresh rate? 1440p vs 1080p?

Also, if you have tried a monitor that works for you, let me know what you are using.

Unfortunately buying a monitor or any device if you're sensitive to pwm, temporal dithering or any kind of display flicker is a trial and error, everyone have dinstinct levels of sensivity to flicker, so for example you can find a monitor that can work for you but it will not for others, so it is recomended to buy from a place with easy returns like amazon, I am very sensitive to pwm but not so much to temporal dithering and I use a Benq gw2780 that is very comfortable to me, things that I look for before I buy a monitor is that the monitor is flicker free and have low brightness nits, also I look for some oscilloscope waveforms in the reviews, these waveforms should be as flat as possible, but in the end it is better to test the monitor by ourselves, some reviewers are not very trustworthy.

You just have to buy it and try it. There is no know configuration or specifications that have proven to be a safeguard against causing eye strain. Make sure wherever you buy it from has a solid return policy
