Does anyone know if this is dithering or something else ?

So, the first photo is with intel gpu enabled and second one with igpu disabled.
As you can see if you focus a bit, the second one has some vertical lines. The first is clear.

Is it clear because of intel's dithering ? With ditherig software enabled, it doesn't change anything. So that makes me think it's something else. Do you have an idea ?

Btw this was taken from battle.net application.

In addition there is a one pixel difference in dimensions between the two images.

Hi, I just took screens with the windows screen tool.

Didn't bother taking exact same size though.

Btw is it normal images are 8 bits while my laptop's display is 6 bits ?

Yes, because I believe the Windows "window manager" and other aspects of rendering run at 8-bit internally and from there's its a decision of the drivers and GPU how to handle it

The odd part about this is that the screen tool would capture the original 8-bit image not what is displayed to the eye. Since there is a difference, the 2nd image is not 8-bit or is in a different colour space or something else. But there is definitely a difference.

Ok, some very weird thing now.

If I activate ditherig, then the vertical lines disappear not only on the battle.net app but even in the photo I took from before. Like, in the photos uploaded in this thread, I won't see the vertical lines anymore if I put on ditherig, the effect is immediate. From what I understand, It would mean ditherig considers this as some kind of dithering and wipes it out.
But that's weird, cause it would mean the basic windows display adapter dithers while enabling the intel gpu removes the dither...

That's just weird. Do you guys still see the vertical lines if you have dithering enabled ?
