I don't feel bad or guilty at all.
In fact, I'm frequently forwarding feedback to retailers criticizing them for their often pathetic return policies.
Electronic devices such as laptops, tv's and smartphones can be expensive and costly to purchase, and unfortunately in this current online retailing era, the opportunity to test or try a device beforehand has become almost non existent.
This is unfair to the general consumer, as they are being expected to pay thousands outright to purchase these types of items without having the opportunity to try beforehand. So these are essentially blind purchases.
As a result, consumers should be eligible for a refund if and when required (within reason), and the refund/exhange should be honored by the retailer, especially if the return is based on health reasons.
In the UK, a handful of retailers will only offer a refund or exchange if an item is faulty, or if the item is unused, unopened, within its original packaging, sealed.
This is an abhorrent policy, and I often lambaste these retailers (in store, online line/publicy) if a refund is refused. I'll attempt to escalate a claim to the highest point of contact, and if that doesn't work, I'll go a step further and contact my card issuer to enquire about a payment reversal, and clawback my funds.
Don't let these types of retailers get away with this type of behavior, as it's against general (and basic) consumer rights.
With that being said, I try my best to thoroughly review refund/return policies beforehand, and stay clear of any retailers that I suspect will be difficult in issuing a refund.
