I've had my eye on this laptop for months I wanted to be certain that it was comfortable and so kept returning to the showroom again and again until I felt certain.
Eventually I ordered the laptop directly from Lenovo (mail order so as to have good return options) and to my disappointment, whilst it was somewhat comfortable, it wasn't totally comfortable.
I arranged for the return, but last night ahead of posting it back I thought I better check back at the showroom… that's when I realised that the showroom model had HDR toggled to ON, I returned home and toggled the device I had to HDR ON and boom! big improvement.
There was though, still a slight eye piercing dazzle to the brightest of white text. I went into the Intel Graphics Command Centre settings and adjusted the contrast right down and WOW! Whilst nothing is perfect I think I have found a workable setup.
I'm still going to return this, as I may go for a slightly higher spec model and I need a bit more time to test comfort for absolute certain, I also want to avoid all this blocking windows updates, ditherig and other work around solutions and instead my hope is I've found a comfortable setup based more around the display itself.
In settings it says things are displaying at 10bit, but there is banding on the standard Windows 11 wallpaper, toggling 8 bit doesn't affect the banding either.
I don't know what is different about this machine for certain, but it feels different to anything I've tried these last 2 or so years.
Well worth a test for other people suffering.
