I'm curious about trying a Mac Mini (M2) since some people seem to get relief from disabling dithering on their Macs with Stillcolor and/or BetterDisplay. Looking through the forum and asking the internet, I haven't found any concrete cases of the Mac Minis + those apps working. Does anyone have one, and can say if it works for them, or not?

Thanks! (I'm a Windows user, but the eye strain on Win10 22H2 is just so bad that I consider switching to Apple … 😛)

lisadorina Good question, this is relevant for me too. I would want to know how internal hardware is different from macbook air m2 to mac mini. Assuming there is no limit of monitors, maybe hardware is more sophisticated then it comes to GPU, or is it exactly the same thing.

Donux There was someone on the MacRumors forum who had a flickering problem with their M2 mac mini. The flickering disappeared using Stillcolor/BetterDisplay, so I guess it could work? The flickering is different from dithering though, so it's just assumptions. 🤷

lisadorina It is not easy to make conclusions based on one person. Usually one person says one thing, another another thing. And the first changes its mind after more usage time 🙂

lisadorina I'm currently testing Mac mini M2 Pro with external 8bit + FRC display. Will post results after the testing.

madmozg hello! How do you feel right now with this setup?

          Did you finish the test?

Ivan_P yes. StillColor and BetterDisplay didn't help with M2 Mac mini unfortunately for me. I was testing with monitor which was 8bit + frc, and also tried with 8bit display.

If you turn off dithering using Stillcolor, do your eyes feel a bit better compared to when Stillcolor is not used?

I bought an MBP M1 Max and had some problems. If Stillcolor turns off dithering, my eyes felt a bit better, but overall it was still difficult to work for more than a couple of hours. I used an external monitor, with which there were no problems when using the MBP M1. I'm curious, did you experience the same?

WhisperingWind stillcolor doesn't help me if its macbook with apple silicon or if I connect it to any external monitor.
