I've been making a bunch of modelines in Linux for video playback purposes. What's interesting is, different ones with different timings or pixel clocks do subtly change the gamma/colour saturation as well as the "stability" of the picture.
A lot of variables in play.. driver, dongle, input port, etc.
I'm typing this on my "regular" Windows OS, it is using the stock EDID timings on the HDMI port, but the same one on the DVI port (logically should be using the same chip on the monitor's pcb) is more tiring in Linux.
