Flipjango I'm trying to make my M3 MBA look like my 2017 Macbook air as the newer one makes my eyes feel like they've been sprayed with acid and the old one was always fine. I've downloaded f.lux, Enabled Stillcolour to turn off dithering, turned off font smoothing, changed colour profile to RGB (and now Adobe RGB 1998) and I'm using night shift all the time. No difference. I saw a suggestion to download BetterDisplay which I have but there are so many options and I've no idea what to change. Would love some suggestions for a good setup that might get closer to my 2017 MBA - it seems much crisper with much greyer tones. Thanks
Donux Flipjango Been there, done it. If you feel strain, do not force yourself using the device, because it will eventually damage your eyes. Sell it and move on. Good think at least with apples, they are very liquid and you can conert to cash very quickly.
xenu I'm curious who made the panel. Can you run this in Terminal and show the results? ioreg -lw0 | grep -i 'raw-panel-serial-number' ioreg -lw0 | grep "IODisplayEDID" Also have you tried switching the color space to sRGB?
Flipjango I get this "raw-panel-serial-number" = <"FP1344200ER25YTAX+5A2D390119A7JG+PROD+B340434123415+4834372N343721343724343720+PA26P0905Y41830907+6862A2324KJ8YL00A29JT3388A30L6272+S36P689V1AS36P689V1AS36P689V1AS36P689V">
xenu Can you try these commands? system_profiler SPDisplaysDataType ioreg -lw0 | grep -E "product-soc-name|product-description|partially-occluded-display"
Donux mirrormystic I wish I could answer you this question without risking of misleading. Even when people have their long awaited solution device as someone has shared dell latitude model, somebody else who buys it experiences eye strain because of panel lotery.
Donux Ok, so I want to share, if you did not sell your device. You can - install displayCal and go to tools or something similar and then create synthethic icc profile. Start from colorMatch RGB profile, and then reduce cmd/m brightness to lowest possible 10. And reduce gamma to at least 1.4 or lower. But too low is also bad, there some issues with too much black. And save this profile to your desktop and later copy to your profile or system icc profiles location (you can figure it out), and then select this profile as your main one. Tested this running Ventura. Not sure what latest versions feel like. This will make things even better than Generic RGB.
