  • Why does a poket radio FM/AM give me the same dizziness as a bad screen?

I bought myself a Panasonic p50d and 3 minutes after I turned it on it hit me. Flashback to the same headache and dizziness as when I use to experience it a year ago. I actually got only dizzy and feel light headed, I didn't get a headache because I stopped playing with it. But I am scared to turn it on again. I have no idea if it's the FM signal or if it's the sound itself that is causing me issues. The sound is as bad as it can get. No base, just a scratchy sound. The device itself works amazing as it sees so many FM stations, but I am unable to listen to it.

    • Indicator lights?
    • Coil whine (high pitched electrical noise) emitted from the unit (doesn't have to be and often isn't the speaker)
    • Other neurological sensitivity to sound

JTL it does have a red light on when is tuned into a station. Coil whine no, neurological issues, yes, obviously I am here 😂

Andreiid the type of speaker and the way it produces waveforms matter just like light and screens

This is very interesting! I have used two company cars recently (Ford Focus and Toyota CHR) and had migraine problems with both. I tried covering the screens and all the dashboard buttons but the situation did not improve. Online I read that the windshield might be the problem but I highly doubt it.

I bought an EMF detector but found nothing relevant. Is there any way to tell if it is a coil whine problem?

      • JTL replied to this.

Sensitive enough microphone and a plot of frequency spectrum would be my starting point
