Desktop LCD screen without dithering/FRC and no pwm?

I'm looking for a desktop LCD screen that can display true 10 bit colors without doing FRC and has no PWM flicker, preferably 8k or 6k, something that would work well with a mac, thanks!

That's going to be a tough one. Usually the safer screens are the lower budget options (which I love). The higher the specs, the higher the probability they come with HDR and color accuracy as a preference meaning PWM.

you mean dithering, but if they have true 10bit colors they wouldn't need that tho, PWM is the lighting strobe thing

mirrormystic I honestly don't trust so called 10 bit LCD panels in the current market. Supposedly modern quality OLED panels are 10 bit native. I have my own issues with the vast majority of OLED panels though.

If it's those OLED panels I'm thinking of, they have their own PWM issues.

I don’t even think the Eizo monitors are true 10 bit. I honestly don’t have a sliver of hope until either qdel or quantum dot only displays are available. I’m not saying they are a sure win for some of us but I’m hopeful.

That assumes certain issues with modern graphic chipsets, OS's, etc are color depth/dithering related, which is a big assumption.

And that also assumes said technology is flicker free (e.g without PWM) and they won't try and meet some ridiculous benchmark with methods to exceed the "native" properties of the display.

That aside. There are allegedly a few microLED displays available for viewing at trade shows and for retail sale (costing a minimum five figures I believe). Anyone know where to view one in person? 😉

Likewise. Just find somewhere without excess ambient light where I can test with my equipment 😃

Someone please recommend a monitor. I am also curious. Has anyone had any experience with the viewsonic VP2786-4K?

Andreiid You can start with a Samsung U28R55(28", 4k, 60hz, Innolux) and set output color depth to 8 bit in nvidia control panel.

I'm probably going to have to buy one sometime this year.. mine is starting to die. Not the backlight, but the motherboard inside it. Sucks. When it wakes up from sleep it has green lines dancing around until it warms up fully.. but sometimes, it also gets jammed in that the buttons don't work, can't change resolutions/refreshes, etc. and then can start rebooting itself with the logo visible on the screen until it warms up. The only fix is to pull the power cord out to hard-reset it.

Anyway, I'm not looking forward to figuring out what monitor is next. I like this one fine.. and I've had it like 15 years already, so it's well broken-in.
