Hi Greg, I’ve gone through something very similar with screen sensitivity — to the point where I had to stop working altogether for a period.
What eventually helped was a combination of:
Medication (which I’m now completely off),
Actively working on nervous system regulation and mood balance, and
Getting my sleep properly regulated.
Once those were under control, my symptoms reduced significantly. I’ve been slowly increasing my screen exposure with the goal of returning to work. I still notice that certain screens trigger symptoms more than others, but most of the time the severity seems closely linked to how well I’m managing points 2 and 3.
Interestingly, I can tolerate my old Surface Book 1 quite well — possibly because it has minimal PWM. I’m now looking into alternative laptops and have noticed ASUS seems to market eye-care / low-PWM displays quite heavily.
Have you or anyone here found particular laptop models that work well for them? Would really appreciate hearing what’s been successful for others.
Sam
