Hi. I'm having problems with dithering on my MacBook and external monitors. Decided to buy a new MacBook. The topic on ledstrain on disabling dithering is great, stillcolor should work... but it turned out to be a bit more complicated than that.
So:
1. MacBook Pro 14 M2 Pro. Unexpectedly pwm. Here we are. They made pwm in mini led) I did not even guess to check when buying. My eyes hurt, it hurts to look for a long time.
2. MacBook Air 15 M3. Stillcolor turns off dithering 1 (high frequency) which makes my eyes go out. But it does not turn off dithering 2 (low frequency). All checked with a microscope, the pixels flicker. Eyes strain, but not as much as pwm in mini led on MacBook m2 pro.
3. Second way, hook up monitors. I bought two. Acer with VA 6 BIT matrix + FRC. Everything flickers, you can see dithering in the microscope, eyes hurt within 10 minutes.
4. Found a topic that you need to buy 8 bit monitors. Bought a redmi 23.8 pro. True 8 bit matrix. As a result, dithering even on white color (microscope).
What to do? What monitor to choose? How to disable flickering?
What does not strain the eyes::
MacBook pro 15, 16, 17
Asus rog flow z13 3050ti. Disabling dithering on an external video card via color control.
