Also: "I recently decided to bring home an s24 ultra to test out since we’ve been demoing them in the store. I was blown away by this phone. The amount of cool features it has and the camera were incredible! Then about 6 days in I get this splitting migraine out of nowhere. I start to feel dizzy, nausea, and I’m bed ridden for 2 days. Even slightly glancing at the phone started to pierce my eyes and make me feel sick. This kinda thing puzzles me cause I’m able to use my iPhone 15 pro without issue but man.. this Samsung wrecked me. I took it back. This phone is incredibly dangerous for PWM sensitive folks. I don’t know what Samsung is doing with their displays but it’s not good for the human body and it’s a bummer because these devices are so incredible otherwise."
"You should be care full with amoled smartphones today. On first sight they can seem comfortable, but have accomodation effect and you get symptoms after 2-3 or more days. And usually all hacks dont help completely. If you bought smartphone and you feel discomfort - give it 1-2 weeks(some People adoptate). But if after this time symptoms present-get rid of such gadget, save your health."
"That is why I don't use OLED at all."
Who needs OLED? My Moto G IPS screen is gorgeous. It's like people are doing a deal with the devil, where you get screen tech that looks even better than IPS at the cost of your eyes, brain, and health. Is it worth it?
Also, how many have been damaged by OLED screens such that even IPS screens bother them?
Quite possible the OLED tech can cause an allergy of sorts to all screen technologies.
If you have any OLED devices in your home, it's probably best to sell them sooner rather than later. If you can't sell them, donate them to a respectable thrift store or charity, maybe with a Post It note saying: "Exhibits PWM. May cause symptoms."
You will notice OLED generally is in better devices catering to enthusiasts. More casual users choose lower end devices still largely utilizing IPS. The enthusiast crowd is more likely to make excuses for the tech, and to try to make it work, since they are computer tech lovers. If you had irritating OLED tech in the bottom end phones you would end up turning away more casual users, who would be more inclined to go back to ordinary landlines.
