Some positive anecdotes for OLED monitors. Keep in mind these people would have spent considerable money on their desktop OLED monitors, and therefore could be trying to make themselves feel better about their OLED purchases. However, we have some interesting comments to consider. For example:
"Recently picked up the 27" 1440p 240hz one from Asus and it feels so much easier on my eyes. I've used a VA panel and a TN panel before and those would always cause my eyes to dry out after a couple of hours.
Anyone experienced this? Or perhaps the opposite, LCD screens being better for you personally?"
"Definetely noticed myself using lower brightness on my OLED too! I feel like I turn up the brightness on LCD panels for more vibrancy."
"I feel the same! I also use the “dark room” mode level one on my LG C4 with 80 oled brightness and dude, after 10 hours of gaming the past weekend my eyes were still fresh!"
Regarding the brightness set to a low level on OLED, I don't know how that could be comfortable as OLED PWM gets worse with lower brightness, but that's anyway what they report.
I do know the mind is very powerful and that people can make themselves believe most anything. I saw one user believing his IPS monitor was emitting UV light, so he thought to wear sunglasses when using it.
