Reinhard62 what exact model is your G54? there are apparently multiple editions for different regions and they are different, not just LTE bands.

It is the G54 5G which is available in Europe. I don't know what the equivalent phone is on the American market.

It definitely doesn't have PWM and with the instructions from here Instructions you can permanently eliminate the dithering.

The first phone since many years that I can use all day long without any eye problems whatsoever.

StaticLCD You will need a second phone using slow motion video to see the blinking at the top of the device.

mylesmclindin-mm I suggest 2 displays:

The Moto G 2025.
The Sonim XP Pro.

The XP Pro is better of the two. Those are the only two I recommend currently for sensitive users based on my own experiences and analysis.

I read majority of your comments about Sonim XP pro, but I cant remember at this point whether you mentioned or tested PWM on it. Just to be on a safe side before ordering it 🙂

I cant find Moto G in Europe, but Im awaiting to get confirmed whether it is possible to get me delivered that XP Pro (on their page only Thermal model available), but I guess its the same.

I have photosensitivity (confirmed by my eye doctor) and discovered PWM issue when I changed from Sony Xperia XZ2 compact to Samsung Xcover 4s and felt a huge difference. After that I had Motorola G32 which was fine, but I wanted something faster and this is how I came to learn about dithering as well. OLED and AMOLED is out of question. I can stand by 2m next to someone else's phone and I already feel radiation.

Anyways, in the end I upgraded to iphone SE 2022 and ipad 10th. I thought Im good for next 5 years until I updated iOS 26 two weeks ago and I thought Im gonna die. I read about some users having these problems after earlier iOS updates, but I thought its not possible, as it should be only hardware issue.

The patch update a week ago slightly improved things, so Im able at least to reply to messages. Luckily I already sold ipad and I borrowed an old laptop from work, but I cant get rid of iphone before I get any other phone. Delivery for Xp pro is 3-5 weeks. So it would be nice to get something in meanwhile anyway.

Samsung Xcover phones are just dreadful, and users still got some issues, so Ive been hoping for Motorola G56 that it wld be ok, since its PWM free. Then, I recalled dithering, and decided to ask our local shop to lend me their show-case phone to test it out for browsing, as it is not possible to return a new phone once the box is unsealed.

Anyhow, Im getting a noticable eye strain, but not crazy eye pain and migraine like from iphone, which lasted even for hours. Honestly felt radiated

So that being said, a short version of my lifestory, Im hoping to get some insights from you.

I read about TCL, but there is no ultra version here, not sure if its worth the shot and then keep it as my second phone.

Any experience with Ulefone rugged phone? Enough googling for me for today.

Once I have a breakthrough with the phone then I will need to dive into finding a laptop. That stressing me out even more. Any advice much appreciated.

__528491__ I think people in this forum overfixate on their own conditions, expecting whatever works for them to be the silver bullet for everyone else.

This is a big reason so much of this forum is unusable really. My triggers have absolutely nothing to do with flicker or dithering of any kind whatsoever. But 99% of the people hear have convinced themselves that's all that matters so it's all that gets discussed.

blondie I tried the Ulefone rugged phone (armor 18) last year and it gave me terrible nausea/diarrhea.

blondie Obviously the XP Pro has no PWM. Even all the Moto LCD phones have no PWM. PWM in IPS LCD is rare despite what some say.

I looked into some other brands of those rugged phones available on our market, but if Im not mistaken, only Sonim is from US. The rest is Chinese, so my guess is that they probably are very much alike when it comes to their production and displays used.

I was under the same impression, but AI can have sometimes contradictory replies.

What u reckon about the other options? Getting an older version Xcover, trying out TCL Ultra or better wait a bit for new Moto G 2026.

Sooo, unfortunately, XP Pro is not available, but they actually have in stock XP400. Its my best shot and I believe still better than Xcover 7. TCL I will skip, as Im clumsy anyway 🙂 If something new, hopefully better, comes along next year, I will keep it as my 2nd phone. Keep you posted.

Any recommendations regarding laptop? Or those are not an issue for you.

Can’t seem to get either of these phones in UK. There are many moto phones on our Amazon eg G55, 57, 85. I’m not sure which one to try.

JonnyT If you are able to get the G57, I'd go with that, assuming there is a good return policy attached to it. That is an excellent phone on paper, and also includes a headphone jack.
