Hi everyone,
I wanted to share what I’ve been going through in case others here have had the same experience.
I bought a Lenovo Legion 7i (14th Gen i9 / RTX 4070 / 16" 3.2K 165Hz IPS) in December 2024. Within a month of using it (first week of May 2025), I started experiencing really severe symptoms:
Intense eye pain (to the point I couldn’t open my eyes for almost a week)
Splitting headaches so bad it felt like my eyes would pop out
Nausea and dizziness, sometimes nearly fainting
Dissociation/brain fog
Blood pressure spikes
On 10 May 2025 I went to the doctor and was told my prescription had already worsened from −2.0 to −2.5 in both eyes. My vision had been stable for years before this laptop. Since then I’ve missed months of study, and I’m still suffering daily. I even almost fainted at my brother’s wedding because of screen-triggered dizziness.
The strange part: I previously used an ASUS ROG G14 (14" 120Hz panel, similar specs) with no such issues at all. The Legion 7i is the only device that wrecks me this badly.
I’ve read that Legion panels sometimes use PWM dimming at certain frequencies, and others mention temporal dithering. I don’t know which one is the culprit here, but this has been devastating for me.
Has anyone here with a Legion 7i (or similar Lenovo Legion models) experienced the same? Did you find any fixes (disabling dithering, brightness tricks, external monitor, drivers)? I’ve tried:
Keeping brightness at 100%
Lowering refresh rate to 60Hz
Night Light/f.lux warm tones
… but nothing makes it tolerable.
I’d really appreciate hearing if others with Lenovo Legion machines have the same problem, or if anyone knows for sure what Lenovo is doing with these panels that could trigger this.
Thanks
