Trying to get Apple’s attention on social media

Hi guys,

As you may be aware, Apple is holding their annual event to announce new products on September 9th. Tons of tech reporters will be there.

I noticed we have virtually no social media posts on this issue. I’m fed up, so I’ve tweeted Apple and am asking tech reporters to ask them if they will add an Accessibility option to disable forms of flicker on their devices.

I know this is a long shot. I have no expectations of this working. Probably 1%. But if it helps raise awareness, then at least something good can come of it.

If you have a Twitter account and would consider reposting, liking, responding, tagging reporters or Apple engineers - basically anything to help drive engagement and visibility, that would be amazing.

Again, I know it’s unlikely to work, but I’ve had some success on TikTok reaching out to content creators.

AshX I doubt it would work, because unless those reviewers feel it themselves, they will not bother. Besides, although many of them especially those working as solo, not for media companies, seam like engaging in free will, in reality - they are not. Succesfull tech reviewers are pretty much puppets of algorithms. Now check how many of them succeed with too straight forward reviews. I think you will see - not many. Because at a core - there are big companies - social media is their channel, and those reviewers are influencers/sales people. They can only be free in connecting companies to potential buyers and say this one is not so good, and that one is better for X, Y, Z. But straight forward attack on truth such as underlying screen technology of whole industry, will be a shot bellow the belt line. And they will shoot themselves into their own feet.

In fact imagine yourself getting some good success on the social media as a reviewer. Once you would get sponsor and cash injection, you would be focused on maintaining and raising your status, and flouting on the cloud that is very good for you. You will throw some slightly negative review here and there, but you will do that for the sake of variaty. You will not attempt to challenge the system, since the very system is carrying you to the clouds 🙂

You could try tagging Tim Sneath, he works at apple and I've seen him help with getting accessibility issues to the right people in apple in an iOS or macos beta last year.
