Hey everyone,
I'm completely fed up with searching for a laptop that doesn't give me eye strain. I'm hoping you all might be able to help with solid recommendations. Great thanks in advance, I really appreciate your help guys!
What I’m looking for:
No PWM (pulse‑width modulation) on the backlight - even when brightness is low.
No FRC / temporal dithering - I need a true native 8‑bit panel (or better) without flickering caused by simulated color depth increases.
Maybe a 13–14″ ultraportable for work or a 16″ gaming laptop with discrete GPU - whichever meets these criteria is fine.
What I’ve checked so far:
On r/PWM_Sensitive, folks mention models like HP EliteBook, Dell XPS, Lenovo X1 Carbon, and Asus Zephyrus G14 (2020/21 with FHD) as working well for them - but FRC info is spotty.
There are multiple requests for Lenovo laptops without PWM/FRC, but no confirmed answers yet.
If you've actually tested a specific laptop and confirmed it:
please let me know! Specs sheets usually hide these details, and I'd really appreciate real-world confirmations - model numbers, display resolution, panel type, observations, anything helps.
I feel like this is pulling teeth, but maybe someone here has hit the jackpot and can point me in the right direction. Thank you so much in advance!
