Just wanted to share this: I’ve been using an old Alienware AW2310 again, and it’s amazing — no more eye strain or headaches, even compared to newer LED monitors.
Used to get coil whine when lowering brightness, but fixed it:
keep brightness at 100% and lower R, G, B in the OSD instead.
The AW2310’s CCFL backlight inverter only makes noise at low power (PWM).
At full brightness it runs steady — no whine, no flicker, super smooth.
Now it’s silent, colors look great, and my eyes feel way better.
I also use Windows 10 Night Light at 20% to cut down on blue light — works perfectly with this setup.
Honestly thinking of buying more of these old CCFL panels before they disappear.
These monitors are seriously underrated — but how can we keep them running 10–25 years from now?
I’m tempted to grab a few extras just to have backups for the future 😄 Anyone else doing the same?
