Aquila This. So much of science has been corrupted, sometimes not even out of malicious intent, but out of incompetence and/or ego. People forget, since in this day and age scientists have become the new priests that must never be questioned, but they are human and are prone to mistakes, hubris, ego, etc. Sometimes they have a bias and want to be the first to discover something, so they desperately try to find something, anything that they can put their name to as them discovering it, and they hypothesize faulty ideas about the mechanisms of things. "bUt iT'S pEeR rEvIeWeD!!!" means nothing, as parameters can be set so that within those parameters, their bias is validated but when you step out and see the forest beyond the trees, you can see their hypothesis is the complete opposite of what they were proposing.
A great example of this is drugs. They desperately want to pass FDA regulations and market them, so they show how short term they are safe and how they "fix" this issue, etc, but decades later when subsequent studies are done on them in long term usage, they are shown to be disastrous to the health of the individual. But the key thing here is, the individual who was suffering from the adverse effects from the drug didn't need a study to tell him this. He felt bad from DAY ONE of taking it, so that was enough for him to know intuitively to stop taking it. He didn't need a study to think for him and tell him this. This is what is happening with us. We know certain screens feel bad. We don't need this validated by researchers 10-20 years from now in some reductionist study that will likely not even offer a solution, but just plainly state in the abstract, "We have observed certain individuals to be sensitive to screens in the commercial market. Exact causation is unknown, but the issue likely stems from PWM and other forms of flicker, dithering, FRC, and even from health problems of the individual. Okay, cool. We all know this already. How did that move the needle for YOU and YOUR life and YOUR ability to tolerate screens.
Don't place your faith in the system to find solutions to heal you. No one is coming to save you. They are not incentivized to, care to, and likely are incentivized to NOT care. Why? Because the screen thing opens a whole can of worms that will f**k a lot of people and companies;
You became screen sensitive after taking this anti-depressant? Hmm, maybe we should look into that anti-depressant and take it off the market.
You became screen sensitive after taking a bunch of "vitamin" A because you thought it was good for eye health? Hmm, maybe we should look into the early studies of "vitamin" A and see how faulty they are and backpedal the last 100 years of vitamin science and tell everyone it's actually not a vitamin, but a plant defense chemical that can accumulate in our bodies overtime and wreck havoc.
You became screen sensitive after taking the covid vaccine? Hmm, maybe we should look into that and if we were wrong about it, OOPS. Sorry we gaslit you into taking it and made you feel like a subhuman for even questioning it.
No. They are not opening that can of worms.
Be your own scientist. Observe, test, and repeat. Find what works for you, because this issue is so multi-faceted, there will never be a study that tells us the answer point blank, "THIS IS THE REASON SCREEN SENSITIVE USERS CAN'T USE SCREENS".
I find the users of this forum (most of them anyway) brilliant. I believe they will make it out of this, and am rooting for them. We are piecing the puzzle together. We here are putting our minds together and doing what humans do best. My thoughts on the EMF and eye strain connection is that we know EMF has adverse effects on the human body. So what I suspect is happening is that when exposed to it, the organism is weakened (during exposure) and the body passes the threshold point for symptoms to start showing since exposure to EMF lowered that threshold point. So out of 100, if you symptoms start showing at 50 due to things adding up and you go over that 50, you start feeling symptoms. But what I suspect EMF is doing is either lowering that threshold to where you start to feel it at 30, AND/OR it is adding to your set of problems where you might've been sitting at a 45, but then it pushed you over the edge by adding another 10. I suspect it's more the former, as I don't see how it can add, but rather it lowers your stimulus threshold since it makes the organism less resilient. Take away the stimulus (EMF) and things return to normal (your normal at least; getting triggered at 50).
