"Worth noting here is that I regularly use smartphones in bed, in full dark, from very up close for quite a while (This is a bad habit in itself!), but after doing this I experience zero eyestrain. I did also move my 27 inch OLED monitor over a 100cm away, and still couldn't use it. I am however reconsidering my PWM being the fix theory for similar reasons you've pointed out. For now I'm more so focusing on the polarisation layers and subpixel layouts used for desktop monitor OLED techniques to see if there's a cause to be found there, in comparison to mobile OLED displays."
