Faint Lines or Waves Running Up and Down Monitor

I need help. These really faint lines or waves running on my LED monitor. I'm using a black background with grey square to make them more visible. They run down and up, down and up. I read this might be the result of EMI but I hope someone can help explain to me what this really is and how to get rid of it. I don't know how to post a picture here. If I plug my monitor on 220v its really bad but when I plugged it on 110v power source the lines don't seem to be visible.

Run it on 110v then.

Where are you that you get to choose between two different voltages?

Sunspark My pc and monitor are plugged in an automatic voltage regulator that has 220v and 110v outlet.

Probably EMI/Dirty electricity.

jordan I live in my grandparents house and its old so I suspect its wiring. I plan to try my monitor over to my parents house since it's new and see if these moving objects are still on the screen.

JTL I'm sorry but what do you mean? My monitor is connected to a Dell Optiplex 3020 PC. My graphics cards are Intel HD 4600 (built-in to the motherboard) I'm using either GT 710 or 730. I had a GT 1030 but somehow after eight months of using a DVI to VGA adapter strain-free (I thought I found the trick) one day I started feeling sick using it so I went back to the GT 710 which has a VGA.

Using the GT710 is not symptom free but its not as bad as using the 1030. I don't know what happened to the 1030 but I suspect it was a Windows 10 update or a GPU update.

Two things that occur to me with your situation

I don't think all DVI to VGA adapters are identical, so there could be quality differences between them
VGA cables themselves can have quality issues due to (lack of) shielding or signal loss. Judging by the specifications (of shielding and wire gauge) I'd give this cable a try

parkmallbaby Well the dirty electricity can be caused from other electronics connected to the AC power. for example dimmer switches for lighting (triac) cause it really bad. If you got a meter like the one I showed you can see what device is causing it by unplugging and plugging in different things into the house power. I can see an instant increase when i turn on a dimmer switch but also some devices can trigger it too.

jordan I don't have a meter like that showed me but it reminded me I have a line filter extension cord somewhere. I recall it was too filter "dirty electricity" I wonder if I can use that?

JTL Removed the adapter, changed to an actual DVI cable and the problem persisted. I have so many cables here but it was something that messed up the system on the PC and I suspect it was updates I had a few weeks before. So I bought a GT730 with its own VGA slot and used that instead and its better now though still not perfect as I expect.
