Hey folks,
it is really concerning that almost no manufacturer is trying to offer solutions, aimed to reduce eye strain.
I am currently using a DELL Latitude 7450 laptop with a true-8-bit panel, but am almost stuck otherwise.
Since I would really like to use a MacOS-based device, I was also eager to see how the MacBook Neo (no notch, yay!) performs.
Would have honestly hoped to finally see a device from Apple with an IPS true-8-bit panel.
Of course, given the cost for the Neo, the chances that the panel used to be a 6-bit+2FRC one, are high.
Nevertheless, Apple should naturally be able to offer their clients an IPS-panel solution for every product class.
The iPhone Air could have been reserved for an IPS solution.
They could easily introduce an 8-bit output setting for iOS, iPadOS and MacOS - so as to give the user the possibility to switch in between color-depth, (same applies to Android).
Given the image that Apple wants reflect and the prices they charge, they might be the only manufacturer able to offer a hardware-software solution, based on native 8 or 10-bit panels.
Since the reports about eye-strain are so numerous, it slowly gets obvious, that they simply don't care.
To be honest, I have seen lots of people looking funny and disorientated after lifting their heads up from their devices. Lots of people that act differently since switching to newer OLED devices, lots of them with definitely higher screen times since that. And almost nobody seems to realize it.
