AGI is there a "consensus best" or "safe" graphic card?
I have seen across the forum that NVidia cards are usually better than AMD or Intel as they have dithering turned off by default. However the newer NVidia cards seem to have dithering turned "on" by default. So they are painful as well.
Currently I use NVidia Kepler based Quadro GPUs and they work pretty well. You could give the Quadro K420 a shot. It is not so expensive either on Ebay.
HOWEVER I used the K420 in Windows 7 with success for some time and now I cannot use it anymore. Not sure what happened or what setting changed, but it is unbearable for me atm. Need to try to fix this some day. Now I use a laptop also with Kepler GPU connected to a CCFL display over VGA running Linux. That works quite well.
AGI I could see what card they use and look for one,
Worth a shot. I guess it would be good also for other people to know what configurations work for you (graphics card, OS, screen).
AGI if the card is "good" with Windows 7, will it be "good" also with Windows 10?
Most likely not. Windows 10 starting the anniversary edition seems to have some dithering enabled by default. And I have not found anyone to have fixed that yet.
Please note that also some applications can cause problems for the eye. Like I could not use Chrome 72, but Chrome 74 is working again.
All quite complicated, I know 🙂
