its and indiegogo campaign, I backed the project with the intention to minimize my exposure to leds and hopefully manage my condition, I thought maybe lots of people here would benefit , maybe just changing the phone is enough for eye strain to go away as I use my phone at least 2 hours so that is 2 hours less of led exposure... and no I’m not an ad
A phone with an E-ink display
- Edited
I know its not relevant to the screen function part of the idea...but I HATE the body design with the pointy corners on the left and rounded corners on the right. I will never understand why designers do stupid things like this.
Function wise I saw a LOT of flashing and flickering going on in reviews so am dubious as to how comfortable it will be when used as a phone rather than a static e-reader.
I think $300 is a ridiculous price for bottom of the barrel specs and an E-Ink display that cannot even function as fully as normal Android does.
Ferrero64 I own a Yotaphone 2 it's not that great. It has an E-INK side on it. I find them hard to read and you need proper lighting just to see the screen. Whatever works though I know how hard it is to find a screen.
Thanks for sharing!
Be aware that some E-ink devices do not solve any of the problems. Yota2 E-ink side was the only phone I could use almost without any consequences. Since it is unusable in day to day activities (too slow, lags, hangs randomly) I bought Hisense a2 pro. It is a life saver (since nothing works for me), but still it gives me some problems on the right eye, but they do not last more than couple of hours.
As I cannot find any other solutions, I do not really care about the design, color, form, etc. I just need any way to work, communicate and be able to somehow keep earning for the living. Due to this I am more than willing to keep buying e-ink devices to find more comfortable ones, so all these shares are very very welcome! Thanks again!
randomboolean exactly, personally i am more comfortable with pc monitor more than ink ereaders except the old ones and amazon oasis 2018. At least i can adjust the monitor but not the ereader. One thing i notice they still have frontlight even if you disable it. Also the dithering an pwm seems to play role. So basically and sadly they ruined our hope to ereaders. Today vendors don't care about the long term ( i mean here that people will stay away from ink readers ) but the only thing they care about is their sellings.
