As a few of you may remember from a previous post, I believe part of my set of symptoms is caused by a sensitivity to polarised light. Many humans can infact perceive polarised light as blue or yellow halos, though our brains filter this out, if you are curious about his effect Wikipeda has an article on it. I wonder if the processing work the brain has to do to remove these effects is a similar burden to that of temporal dithering. I also wonder if it is the reason Lutein may be helpful.
So I have a question and a proposal. Does anyone here get symptoms wearing polarised sunglasses?
I bought some polarised sunglasses to block out offending LCD screens, but to my surprise I experienced immediate eyestrain wearing them. To explore this further I 'fashioned' some test glasses made from polarised camera lenses and cheap glasses frames. They look goofy as hell, but with them I can rotate the lenses to set the incoming polarised light angle to whatever I want. I found that no angle of polarisation was tolerable, but that horizontally polarised light triggered migraines just as horizontally polarised light from IPS screens does.
So the proposal: I have no further use of these glasses, does anyone want to try them out and test your own sensitivity to polarised light? hopefully won't be too expensive to post them back and forth internationally. Alternatively, if you want to make your own it only takes two identical polarised camera lenses, cheap frames and a gluegun. All in I spent £40 making them.
I'll take a picture of them tomorrow, should be good for a laugh atleast.
