Sunspark
I have tried that but I had hoped that I could use it at 100%, eveything is too small though and the contrast (I think thats the right term) of the screen is odd, black is very black and white is very white, almost burning bright.
I put ditherig on there, I can see when dithering is disabled this induces banding and a strange static effect over the screen background - but headaches persist and then develop into what my doctor assured me are migranes (I still disagree but Im not a doctor)
I think this is another machine that I cant use, I had hoped the HD530 would be ok for me.
What I have tried
flash bios back to 2016 (earliest that I am able to)
use / do not use flux (no difference)
calibrate display (no real difference)
artificially lower brightness with intel control panel / flux (no real difference)
lower brightness with controls built in (no PWM - but no differnce)
try lower resolution, but this made things blurry
ditherig at varios settings, can see this makes a difference but I still have a headache from it
cant modify the display.sys / monitor.sys files so cant swap over from a 'good' laptop to the dell
using it on battery / low graphics / high graphics performance, no real difference
Last options I can think of
roll back drivers to the earliest intel ones I can find, around 2016
maybe something i can set in the power management that might help
swap screen with my good laptop / use another old screen I have thats a bit damaged just to test (not much hope here)
install Linux on it - can try ubuntu / kde / mint (think I have all those somewhere)
sell it 🙁
The single constant thing I seem to be able to conclude is that laptops with an Nvidia graphics card are ok for me....apart from the work thinkpads with the 3xxx and 4xxx intel CPU / HD4000 ish series
this is rather depressing, I built myself up on this being the one that works for me as its arguably the same as another machine I have that is totally fine.
