Generally people have found relief going from IPS to VA, but is that mainly because lower end IPS screens have been 6 bit + FRC while those VA panels have almost always been true 8 bit? Therefore, those like degen who say:
There is 0 IPS panels which I can currently use. The only screens I can use are VA or AMOLED panels. I haven't experimented enough with TN. I would say that when done properly AMOLED is even more comfortable for me than VA. Several times I thought a monitor or phone with an IPS display was "the one" but always it becomes painful after a few weeks maximum timeframe. There is something sharp about the display and I feel like I can't focus on it well.
Have you tried 8-bit IPS panels to see if they help? What I mean to ask is it mainly dithering that causes most problems with eye strain?
Also, real 8-bit is now appearing in lower end IPS displays.

This says each of these budget IPS displays has a real 8-bit panel. This is happening only now. It used to be all lower end IPS offerings were 6 bit + FRC.
