Jo09 the best you can do is to avoid amoled phones ans try lcd ones (but lcd one with good feedback, as the x4 gt is not really eye firendly from what i ve seen on this forum ans other sites)
You can try the realme 9 pro, nokia g60, or even the honor x9 (magic 4 litr in europe). Jusy consider that there is still a chance you also get eye strain from this devices (it is different for each person, you can also get eye strain from dithering, or a bad screen calibration, or from the backlight etc etc) but this models i mention are the "most safe" od recent lcd phones.
If this 3 dosent work for you, then you will have to find really old used ones (like realme x3 superzoom or nokia 8.3) or just limit you time with smartphones and use amoled phones with high pwm fequency (like honor ones)

qb74 there are some differences on what each manufacturer offer (but no one gives full control over the display)
My realme lets choose between color modes (srgb dcpi) you have a color temperature slider (for cold or warn colors) blue light filter and also there is a setting to enable or disable what i think is the famous "dynamic brightness" (wich is not automatic brightness) and i think realme -and oppo/vivo/1+- are the only one that allow to enable or disable this.
Honor from what i seen offer similar settings (but not the dynamic brightness toggle i think) and they also have a color wheel.
Xiaomi is the best in this, but this is different on each model, on some lcd phones i ve seen that they have the color wheel, also more than 2 or 3 color modes and then is the paper mode that makes everything more "soft" like using a matte screen protector (well...almost) is ironic that they offer the most settings of all manufacturers but at the same time they offer the worst phones.
Now samsung and Motorola are more basic, some models just let choose color mode, others only have a temperature slider and others dont have anything from what i seen.

has someone tried the new motorola g34? it has a "simple" HD+ screen and is not ltps like other models, maybe is pwm free also?
someone in another site tested it and said it was too sharp and not good for the eyes , but he didnt test for pwm.
also, i dont remenber if i already said it on my last post...but i mow recommend the realme narzo 30 5g (my current phone) at 100% , my eyes needed some weeks to adapt but now i dont feel any eye strain with it, the only negative thing of it is the "intense" light and the white color that is too sharp for my taste even when you switch to natural profile, but even with that i dont feel any eye strain or dizzines like on amoled phones or some toxic lcd phones i had in the past, so i can recommend it without problem.
sorry bad english
Thanks for this, this post is very useful!
You are using the opple 3 or the 4? You have realme phones to test? i cant find an opple lm here where i live, i am curious to see what results could have the realme narzo 30 5g (wich i am using now without problems) or the realme 9 pro (wich almost everyone here likes with few exceptions)
sorry bad english.
Dok123 About the g54: someone on the telegram group tested it and got pretty bad results with an opple light master, also it did cause eye strain :/
about the g62: 2 users here tested it, one had to sell it and the another one said it was pwm free. But i dont remenber if we have official reviws (like nbcheck) for that model (nbcheck is not so that trustworthly tho)

Dok123 It probably uses the same display as the oneplus nce3 lite and realme 10 pro (or thats what looks like..its almost the same phone) so it probably flickers like the other two.
But at the same tine someone on the pwm subreddit said he uses it without problems, so the best you can do is try it because there is not review at nbcheck or ixbt.

nikomanuel96 Guys, last update on the narzo 30 5g.
The good things first: now that some weeks have passed i focus more easily on the screen and text. I gave the e5 play to an friend, so i guess stoping using it helped to focus well again.
Another thing is that i stoped using the color calibrator app, it was not stable enough.
Now goes the bad (or not so bad) part: i just updated it to android 13. I know it was risky but i just did it.
The good part is: the update is actually good performance wise. Even if i have the 4 gb model it dosent feel worse than a11 , everything is smooth.
The bad part: the default font changed, is not that good in comparassion to the a11 one. Now the notification bar is transparent, it looks good on videos and so on but seeing it live on the narzo is not that good, it looks more like an "strange" gray. You cant make it dark like on a11.
Also the option of diming the screen on the battery saver section dosent work like before, now it only works when the phone is below 25% .
Now goes the good part again: when i see all of this i was thinking i destroyed my narzo, but even with the ugly font and so on i dont feel more or less eye strain using it, i feel the same as on a11!!
.
Also, i discovered i can enable the dim option like before using the "set edit" app, i just have to search the "power_save_backlight_state" string and change it to 1. And vuala! I can enable the dim option anytime i want like on a11. But you have to do this everytime the phone reboots.
So yes. In the end i would my eyes adapted to the narzo and realme ui 4. I would like the notification bar was black and not transparent as it looks weird for my eyes, and also that the backlight was less intense, but other than that is okay. 7/10
Sorry bad english.

Rui Just keep the nord and dont open the g73, the g73 dosent have very good feedback here and on ther sites (there are still sensitive people that can use It tho) but if the nord if working fine for you then opening the Motorola is risky, there are high chances It Will give you problems. Just keep the nord and if you want you can buy an cheap LCD phone that have more chances to be Safe (for example.. honor 70 lite ir realme 9 pro)
Sorry bad english
An update on the narzo 30 5g:
I discovered that in the "power saving" mode there is an option to dim the screen without using all the other features (of that mode), when i enable it the light from the display becomes less "harsh", i think this option is available on all realmes!
Before enabling it the light from the screen was too "intense" even at 10% brightness, but now i can go up to 25% brightness and the screen feels less "itense" if that makes sense.
That in combination with the option of " make the launcher icons follow the dark theme" + 60 hz makes the display easier on the eyes...but still far from perfect (still dosent match my old one fusion)
But the other problem that i didnt mention before is that i cant concentrate on what i am reading on the screen, but i cant tell if this is a fault on the narzo display because i already had that problem since last year (probably for using the crappy e5 play for so long) the bizarre part is that i am finding more difficult to read text on the narzo than on the e5 play (that is already difficult to begin with)
Finally, today i installed the Color Calibrator App and it helped an little more, i dim the screen even more with it (it seems more pleasent than lowering it on the systen settings) and also make the whites more likeable for my eyes.
For now i boost the score from 5.5 to 6.8/10. It is improving, not perfect, not better than the fusion but now usable!
Sorry for bad english and the wall of text: guys, i purchased an realme narzo 30 5g (basically an realme 8 5g but with 4gb ram) i find it pretty cheap after searching everywhere as you can only see infinix and tecnos here.
i dont have an opple to test it but ixbt says its flicker free and since this a realme 8 5g with another name i guess this is using the same panel, so its probably flicker free or using very high frequency pwm in the worst case.
The things is..i am not so sure if it will work for me :/, i am strained from my other phone (an crappy moto e5) so i will have to wait for my eyes to "reset" and test this for some weeks to make a conclussion..but there is something i find unconfortable about the colors, but i am not sure what it is exactly.
I change the color mode, play with the temperature slider, set the 60 hz mode...but i cant make the colors look 100% confortable for me, in 2021 i had an moto one fusion (i sold it) and i always set the vivid color mode on that (i know is the other way around for most of you) and it was more easy to look at that display than this one :/.
The disconfort is more clear on the settings section, if i use dark theme it looks unconfortable for me..dosent matter if i set on light gray, dark gray or pure black, the one fusion had easier colors imo
so for now i will rate this way (regarding eye strain)
Moto one fusion 8/10
Moto e5 play go 3/10 trash
Narzo 30 5g 5.5/10 not sure yet- Edited
Abeabe By chance you don't have a gadget like the opple light master or something similar to meassure pwm? maybe the x50 actually uses pwm but at a very high frequency (that cant be detected with an phone camera for example) or with a modulation depth that actually causes that dizziness.
You can also try to use setedit to force 60hz all the time (vivuldi99 posted a guide some months ago) maybe that can help..i think the x50 actually drops to 45hz in some scenarios.
sorry bad english
DAVEGEO Honor magic 4 lite (the 5g and even the x9 4g version) and realme 9 pro are the phones with the most positive feedback i ve seen recently, off course they can still dont work for you...you have to try it first, but i think they are the most safest option to start with as 2023 hasnt been an good year for pwm free screens.
sorry bad english
ban what android devices you tried aside the nokia g60? sorry bad english.
Now manufactures are launching less and less lcd phones and the few ones have ltps displays or are budget low end devices.

there are multiple phones that have positive feedback in this forum...realme 8 5g, x50, 9 pro, honor x8, x8a and x9, nokia g60 etc.
But you have to try yourself because you can get eye strain even with pwm free displays (if you are sensitive to dithering...or dynamic brightness or any other strange thing that manufacturers are adding on phones in recent years) in the end everything is individual
....
Someone knows if the Chinese version of the moto g53 is really pwm and td free? There are selling it pretty cheap here but i am afraid to take it seeing so much negative feedback about motorolas here and on other forums even when nbcheck says "x" model is pwm free (and then turns out is not pwm free).
Has anyone here tried it?

I have been reading multiple threads on the Russian site that someone posted here some weeks ago. There are multiple R10 Pro reviews already.
Google translate doesn't work very well with Russian - Spanish (my native language) so I had to use Ru - English, so maybe I can be understanding some things wrong, so far there are only 2 positive reviews and 4 or 5 negative ones regarding eye strain (a couple of this are short test on stores tho)
I know everybody's eyes are different (so there will be always some negative reviews on all phones) but it seems more people on that forum are getting eye strain from this model than on 9 pro/Ce 2 lite (that model has more positive than negative reviews)
And there is still no 10 pro on the upcoming reviews section of Notebookcheck.
I hope this is not a bad sign.
This model and the moto g73 are the only interesting phones with IPS this year so far (and the upcoming nord ce 3 that looks like is gonna be a rebranded 10 pro) i hope they are pwm free at least.
A friend wants to replace his redmi note 11, says he cant tolerate the amoled screen...but seems that his problem is not that bad compared to mine (is the first time he cant use an phone confortably and like i said before i cant use any amoled screen since 5 or 6 years) i dont know if he is starting to be sensible to pwm flickering too or if it is something else.
He is going to purchase an honor x7, someone here has tried it? Notebookcheck dosent have an review and some users talk about flickering on gsmarena...but i guess they dont mean pwm flickering but faulty screens.
Sorry bad english.
Honor will launch a new X40 variant (X40 GT) in china...and looks like it will have an Lcd screen + SD 888.
Basically an X9 But with an better soc.
Hope it will launch globaly someday. Looks good.
