  • Hi

I Also get terrible eye-strain, nausea and headaches from monitors but ONLY when reading text because of pattern glare.

Paragraph and line of text are like a pattern from Figure 4 from this site https://www.opticianonline.net/cpd-archive/171

I also have it when reading on paper but way less.

I did IRLEN testing and got tinted glasses (rose/purple) but it doesn't help. The overlay does help but mainly only on paper.

You guys should look online about IRLEN which is kind of similar to people having pattern glare, it is also sometimes call visual stress.

Opticalm are in this space and made a video that give some really nice recommandation. You can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrgAfiVA8Bw

From which company ? I have them from Theraspecs. It does help me a bit sometime, especially the evening.

For the Irlen ones, which color ? Did you have the proper test with an Irlen Specialist ? What made you make a second pair of irlen glasses with different color ?
Have you tried Irlen Overlays on your computer screen ? Because I have problem only when reading on a computer screens (eyes strains, nausea, blur vision ...) but I can watch movies without problem. I had a pair of purple/rose/blue mix, tinted Irlen Glasses made, after I've got tested by an Irlen Specialist, and it didn't help me much when using it. But I've got a big improvment, when I put Irlen Overlay (purple and or rose) on my computer screen.

  • Thanks for the feedback everyone.
I will do go to windows 10 for high-dpi support, and bought an GT 1030, will see how it goes when I will receive it.

    • Hi there, I'm very glad that this forum exist.
I'ved developer a few years ago some visual problem (IRLEN Syndrome and Visual Snow for those who knows)
Basically, reading on a computer give me very bad eyes strains, blur vision, nausea... Because of that I had to quit my job as a web developer.
I can play games and look movies all days long without problem, my problem is only when reading text, especially big chunk of text, like news articles, pdf, long forum topic. Navigating on website and reading only a few word is pretty much fine for me.

      I currently have an IPS 24" LG screen 1080P : 23MB35PM
I'm looking to buy a LG 24UD58-B 24" 4K for high dpi, that I think can help me, it also have flicker safe and low blue light mode like many today's other screens. It does have 10bit (8bit + A-FRC), meaning some dithering right ? still I will give it a shot because finding a 24" 4K is very hard.

For the graphic card, I need to buy one because me Intel HD 3000 from my i5 2500k doesn't support 4K.

What graphic card would you advise me for minimum dithering and others related problem for eyes strains ?
Is there any other things from the graphic card like dithering, I need to be aware of ?
I need something basic because I don't play video games, only watch movies and read a lot (browser, word...).

Also I run windows 7 but may go to windows 10 for best high-dpi support.

      Thank you for your help

    dev
