Hey all, came across this place from the Apple discussions, glad to see a discussion board going about this serious topic. I am sensitive to CFL and (some) LED lightbulbs as well as some computer screens. I al less concerned about the screens or bulbs in my home, I spend $700 and bought a 40 year supply of incandescent for my home, so I am good there. The problem is workplaces. LED's are going in and costing me multiple job opportunities.
In my experience, it seems the bulbs that have the metal fin base tend not to trigger me at all, I actually have 3 of those installed as outdoor lights in my house, and I can stare at those forever and have no issues. The bulbs that look more traditional and seem yellower do cause me pain, it's tiredness/fatigue in my eyes, browline, and temples.
I have tried wearing migralenses (google for them) and they help a little, but certianly no cure. I am on daily propranalol and clonezepam for migraine prevention, they aslo help a bit, but are no cure.
I am thinking that the color must be the defining factor here, and if that's the case there must be some filter that can filter it out. Anyone have any positive experience they can share? I have tried GUNNAR glasses, Blu Blockers, FL-41 tinting, all to no avail. Multiple opthomologists and nuero opthomoligists cant find anything wrong, and I have passed every single test they have thrown at me.
Any tips or advice on eliminating the pain caused by LED lightbulbs would be a life saver. I am also the mod of a subreddit I set up, /r/lightsensitive, where I am documenting my experiences and hoping others come to do the same.
