AGI Well it was based on my own experience. I had lenovo carbon X1 7th gen with WQHD screen, no PWM, with intel. It was better than macbook on eyes, but still had eye strains, especially after eyes adopted to that screen. I made a decision these factors are left to eliminate in next purchase - avoid high pixel density, and get a chipset which is best for lower temporal dithering (lots of folks agree its AMD/Radeon). And I finally got it. Now the problem is not eye strain, but motivating to do work rather than spend on social networks ๐ I think lower pixel density for sure is better, it could be psychological, it could be that higher pixel density simply multiplies other problems in the screen technology. But then look at Dell xps lineup. Why would premium laptop ship FHD screen? They clearly know, folks who spend a of time on laptops, need it. And 4k screen is reported very widely, even for less sensitive folks to cause eye strain. From my perspective, as I'm typing this on HP, everything is sharp and matte, no pwm, very good color accuracy, just the way I want to. If there will be any strain it will be from overworking, or other real health issues. But now I can work 12 hours straight daily - no problem, honestly.
