I ended up ordering the Dasung 253 from Sol computers in California, mostly due to the outstanding service that I experienced from them with my 13" paperlike and it being in stock on the same continent (I am in Canada).
With Duty, brokerage, standard UPS shipping and Canadian taxes it came in at just a bit over CAD$3600.
Upon arrival, I had an issue where it would not connect to my 2017 macbook air using the same thunderbolt 2(mini DP) to HDMI adapter that works fine on the smaller paperlike. It did connect fine to my windows laptop HDMI output.
I contacted SOL and they didn't have a solution other than to contact Dasung on my behalf. SOL indicated that another customer with the 253 also had the same issue with no connection between their macbook pro (thunderbolt 2) and the 253's HDMI input.
I decided to try different inputs as it has DP, HDMI and usb-c. I had a mini DP to DP cable from another monitor and it worked.
Dasung did contact me and indicated that the recommended connections are DP-DP, HDMI-HDMI, or usb-c-usb-c.
If anyone is needing to connect this using adapters, be warned that it does not work with them as universally as the 13" paperlike which only has HDMI input.
Also, unless you are using HDMI-HDMI, you will have to buy your own DP or usb-c cables as they are not included.
My 13" paperlike had a built in backlight which is very useful in low light situations. The 253 does not have a backlight, so I am in the process of ordering a Quntis max screen light bar from amazon. I will provide feedback on this lightbar after it arrives.
