Well instead of purchasing one more notebook with intel HD 4xxx I tried Acer Aspire E5-573-59GV with Intel Iris graphics.
What should I say?! It is better than the Intel HD 4xxx, but after some hours I get also the eyestrain. However it is a bit different. The eyestrain is not so strong and there is no pain behind the eyes and no headache and dizziness. It's just really really tired eyes. Maybe you can also try out and maybe we can get used to it because the issues are'nt so strong with the hd4xxx hardware.

I came up with the idea cause some people told in the apple eyestrain thread that they don't have any problems with new Macbook 12.

It's really much better, but it's not as comfortable as my old notebook. Maybe 4k is a good solution for us. What do you think?

I get the same effects with my desktop monitor. It doesn't bother me so much as long as:

    • The effects take awhile to manifest
    • The effects do not last for long (once away from the stimulus / monitor)

Do you still get the eyestrain with a external monitor (that works fine with older PC)?

I'm wondering if this is temporal dithering (or whatever it's called?)

I'm wondering if/how it manifests on camera for example. I believe I may have seen it in the form of "snow" on my old ASUS monitor but it never "affected" me so to speak but I understand why it would.

Well Slacor. Exactly the same happens on my side. If I go away from Intel Iris graphics eyes recover very fast, but of course the eyes are not 100% ok. They are more "tired" in some case. But it's not the focussing problems und dizziness.

Also the effect doesn't start immediatly. With Intel HD 4xxx I "see" the difference after 5minutes.

Which intel graphics do you use in your desktop? Have you ever tried out an nvidia card?

      JTL
Yes. Same effect with external monitor.
