Samsung and Sony released QD-OLED TV without PWM ("only" contains small refresh rate OLED flicker). This relates also to the Dell Alienware 34" inch QD-OLED monitor which also doesn't have PWM.
If anyone reading isn't aware Quantum Dot is a big deal since it doesn't have brightness issues, you can actually run it at normal brightness without huge pain (does this apply to these Samsung TV? There may be other factors at play so I don't know). But Samsung and Sony TV will still have it's TV operating system which could introduce strain.
I haven't decided if I'm going to get the Samsung QD-OLED TV or the Alienware.
Guys, this is totally different technology than the LG OLED which caused pain due to White LED.
Tagging @KM since he brought the White LED brightness issue to our awareness, and I think you will find these new TVs to be relevant to your interests.
The Samsung TV is called S95B.
The sony TV is called A95K
