daniels here's a list of the tabs I've tried and how they've been to use. If I haven't mentioned PWM the tab either doesn't use it or doesn't use it at 100% brightness. I think most of them don't use it at all - can be checked on Notebook check.net or by using a smartphone camera set on manual with a high shutter speed eg 1/4000.
Comfortably usable tablets/convertibles:
Acer Aspire One 10 S1002 (Atom Z3735F 2GB/32GB 1280 x 800 Windows 10)
Surface Pro 4 (m3 4GB/128GB, Windows 10)
- PWM upto approx. 95% - eliminated by setting brightness to max and using “Eye Saver” software to dim. Also registry change to prevent auto-dimming on battery. Careful if you’re getting a used one coz many units had display failures.
Surface Go (Pentium Gold 4GB/64GB Windows 10)
- PWM upto 99% - eliminated by setting brightness to max and using “Eye Saver” software to dim. Also registry change to prevent auto-dimming on battery. This device was very uncomfortable initially but became ok on using blinkers and then remained ok even without them!
Chromebook Duet - was uncomfortable when I got it but at some point became ok.
Slightly/Moderately uncomfortable

Tab S3 - has PWM at 100% (set to max brightness + Twilight) - was more uncomfortable earlier
Uncomfortable:
iPad Air 4
Ipad Pro 10.5 (2018)
Tab S4 - has PWM at 100% (set to max brightness + Twilight)
