So I bought a used lenovo y530 with a gtx 1050 and intel igpu uhd 630 at a shop cause the image looked really fine and relaxing to me.
As the storage usage in task manager was too high, I decided to do a windows clean install to fix the problem.
Now after the clean install and windows updates, the image looks way brighter than before. While the os version is anterior to the one the laptop came with. Image is much brighter and temperature seems warmer. Screen suddenly has this motion effect, seems to not be static. Way less relaxing. And it's the same effect as on recent phones.
I don't get it. There was no icc profile first so it's not that. Could it be the fact that the display drivers are different now ? Could it be that the OEM tweaked the screen but the clean install erases what OEM could have done to the screen ? Could it be some windows setting or registry key that was making the image is fine and now is gone with the new install ?
I have no clue what happened. I regret not having checked what exact igpu and dedicated gpu drivers I had before.
It's like an infinite loophole this problem with screens. It's been more than a year, and everytime I think I narrowed down the core issues, I find a new one. This is maddening.
