EyeDiscomfortCertificate i am using a benQ ew3270u but i actually dont think it was a good idea to go 4k. Try a 1440p 24-25 inch, perhaps a used dell ultrasharp. Ppi is actually as good and it maybe easier to use. Just saying.

Yea I have had a very similar experience.
Even in India, you cannot return anything, so you are stuck with it, and you have to sell it yourself at a loss each time.
I tried out:
# LG 27UK650 4k 27" first.
# Then Samsung SR35 FHD 24"
# Then LG VA 32GK650 QHD 32"
# Then finally Asus VA24DQ Eye care FHD 24"
Each time I had to sell, to try out the next one.

Each one causes notable discomforts in various ways.
I really tried hard to make them work for me, by trying each one for many hours a day for 1 month straight minimum.
They just reduce the quality of my life in a big way, so I'm now quite hesitant to even turn them on.
I just keep using my laptop screen which I have gotten used to. A 17.3" FHD Asus G752VT 2016 model used with Flux at 45%.

I am still hopeful to find something that I can really use with little to no issue.
Something like a 27"/32" QHD/4k OLED with HDR1000.
That seems to be the only new hope.
I really want to make this work for myself.

I had half a mind to sell my current Asus 24" monitor and tryout something else, but if that does not work out, again I would have to sell everything at a loss, and all the hassle of posting-bargaining etc.
The Gigabyte M28U or G27Q also look tempting, but it would be another gamble to tryout.

I was contemplating a VA screen (I've read in some places, including this site, that VA's are generally easier on eyes) but @hayder1983 mentioned his Benq 3270u is not good either, and I've never seen a non-curved VA's and concerned about viewing angle (a curved gaming VA I saw, was good). The only cheap model we have locally is samsung ls32a700 with no proper reviews, and I read all kind of opinions about it - good and bad. I may go to the local vendors and ask if they have open ones to check but most probably they don't. I do not even need 32 inch honestly, but at least I can put it further away, which is better to eyes in any case; or more importantly I needed a small TV anyway, so if it does not work out, I'll use it to watch movies. Another option is Lenovo 32 inch IPS, which has relatively good review but I am somewhat scared of buying yet another IPS and ending up with something I cannot use again.

Just for comparison. Samsung is most often not flickerfree on low brightness. If you want sth flickfree, perhaps try some other brand.

hayder1983 No, that one is a very different one, with TUV Flicker free and TUV Eye Comfort certificates, and better panel (gamut, accuracy etc.)

hayder1983 BTW, FYI it turns out that that cheap Samsung you linked to and your Benq 3270u use the same lower quality VA panel from Innolux, with the worst viewing angles. As you mentioned that it is the only one screen which does not fatigue you eyes, but yet it does fatigue your brain, it might make sense check some other VA screens, with AUO panels (considered better ones). Do not want sound pushy though - I do not myself know if panel type matters at all. I myself will go store the nearest Saturday and will try to check the Samsung VA they sell there (if they have open box ones).

Not sure i want to test VA-Panels again, i think i will try some older TN-panels until i find sth suitable. Not bigger than 24 inch, very matte finish.

EyeDiscomfortCertificate Most panels with bad color reproduction and bad color gamut are easier on my eyes. Some old TN or IPS Panels are much easier to look at, than anything expensive and new. But you can only buy a monitor, you cant buy a custom monitor. You have to take what you get.

I generally think medium matte are the worst, the best ones are either glossy or very matte, and very light matte are ok too.

hayder1983 BTW a crazy idea - did you try a CRT? I have one old 15" Samsung. Zero strain.

EyeDiscomfortCertificate CRT? No, i havent used those in like 15 years. CRT from a good brand(siemens?) is also expensive if they still work. In Germany 150-900€. Some noname CRT screens are available for 10€. 🙂

I still have 28 years until retirement, i need sth, that will carry me through worklife, if needed, for example 3 2009 TN-Panels(some IPS Panels would be good too, but not sure which one were good/bad). I perhaps have to tolerate even some eye strain/pain, but nontheless i need a few devices that i can store and use the next decades. I know that sounds strange, but in my profession there is zero work without a PC. I dont care about a 300€ investment for that, but i need same safety net(s).

Perhaps i need to try e-ink. Not sure about that though. Still wanna try some normal monitor screens first.

But i am sure there will be a solution and i am sure i will somehow manage to get to retirement 🙂 Perhaps PC Gaming will be impossible, but if this happens, i will play more handheld games. That would be sad, but it would be life.

After reading through many forums regarding the monitors and panel overall consensus that the best (w.r.t eyestrain) IPS and VA panels are manufactured by AU Optronics. The only 2 sold here are IPS Benq 3280 (very very expensive like $800 here) and VA S32A700. Which narrows my selection to the Samsung. Hopefully will be able to see it IRL.

hayder1983 I tested Samsung. It was a lot better than I thought, but I had only 2 minutes to check it out, so I am not sure if it will work out. It is cheap though (350 USD) and I'll be able to sell it minimal loss (50 USD) if it goes wrong. I have not bought it yet.
